After the Reserve Bank's increase

Which lenders have changed an advertised variable rate since the Bank announced on Tuesday 29 September.

Rates checked Monday 2 November at 7:01 am (Sydney time) ยท browse all the data

On Tuesday 29 September, the Reserve Bank raised the cash rate target by 0.25 points to 4.60%. Of 102 lenders read on both mornings, 79 now advertise a higher variable rate than before it, as at Monday 2 November. 71 are higher by the full 0.25 points or more.

A lender not listed as moved has not moved as at this morning's read. Lenders often take days or weeks. They can also change the loans they already have on a different day, and that is not in this data.

The Bank's own record: its statement and the cash rate table.

Each lender's lowest advertised variable rate for a loan to live in, paying it down, on the same loans before and now. Before is the read on Tuesday 29 September, the last one before the announcement.

23 lenders unchanged as at this morning

Unchanged means its lowest advertised variable rate is within 0.01 points of the read before the announcement. A note shows where another of its rates did move. It does not mean a lender has decided anything.

Where the market stands now

Variable rates today, what moved this week, and every lender's own page. Read your own rate against them.

How this is worked out, and what it does not tell you

How it is worked out

  1. Rates come from each lender's own feed under the Consumer Data Right, read each morning. Nobody types one in.
  2. A rate counts only if anyone could take it. Loans for particular groups, and lenders the capture cannot reach, are left out.
  3. Each loan counts once per profile, at its lowest advertised rate.
  4. Lenders are compared with themselves, on the same loans on both mornings. A loan that first appeared after the announcement has no "before" and is left out. A lender the capture could not reach on either morning is left out, not counted as unmoved.
  5. A move is a rate at least 0.01 points different from the read before the announcement.

What it does not tell you

The data is free to download, so any figure here can be checked.

Free, and not advice. It knows only what the lender publishes, not what you could negotiate. A licensed broker does this for a living. Who made this. What this site collects.

More from the data

Building something with this? There is an API, and the data is free.

This morning: the market, variable rates, fixed rates and what moved this week.

Found in the data: what lenders charge above 80%, the rate a fixed loan rolls onto and what a comparison rate adds. Also what an offset costs, and what investors pay on top.
